  1. SCIENCE FICTION REVIEW 42 - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille board. It appears on the cover of SFR 42, edited and published by Richard Geis.

There were times when magazine editors asked a cover artist to paint a scene that he could give to one of his house writers to use as inspiration to write a story. With that in mind, I created most of my fanzine cover drawings as imaginary story illustrations, like this one. So, if you've got a few minutes, and if you've got an itch to be a writer, pretend that you are a science fiction writer and use this picture to make up a story.

In 1983 the SPWAO (Small Press Writers & Artists Organization) gave me their "Best Cover Artist Award". The award was given to me based on this SFR 42 Cover drawing and my drawing on the cover of "Weirdbook 16" (it appears here as item 247).
